It was daunting at first

when I came back.

Chantal Necchi inherited La Lombarda’s from her father Fabrizio in 2014, but before she reopened as Gio’s by La Lombarda in 2023 after returning from the US, she had a career in the oil industry. Starting out at the age of seventeen with a temporary admin job and ending as Global Product Manager for Subsea Safety Systems at Halliburton, she hadn’t always imagined becoming a third-generation restaurateur. Although running a business in the Castlegate today can be a challenge, she is hopeful for the future, and enjoys hearing her customers’ memories of a restaurant and café that has been at the corner of Castle Street and King Street since 1922.
