Zara was born in New Zealand and moved to Scotland from Australia when she was 19 years old. She was homeless at 16, but qualified as a swim instructor and mermaid, setting up her business with just fifty pounds and some face paint.

Love Rara was established in 2013 and has developed into a social enterprise that now includes a Community Hub at the Castlegate, an entertainment business, and a swim school and summer camp for children and teenagers. Zara’s mission is to help inspire and build confidence in young people, promote mental health and well-being, and to continue to support an active  team of volunteer staff on various development programmes.
